Hi Members,
Another week has passed and here I am again to bring you up to date with what's been going on at your RSL.
Friday night was bitterly cold and you could have been forgiven for staying at home but we did have a nice turn out, for those that braved the weather and all was much better once the fire was alight and the port warmed our hearts.
Lynn Bright’s name was drawn for the Members’ Cash Draw but unfortunately she wasn’t there to claim her cash, so the jackpot increases to $400 this week. This coming Friday another of our club sponsors, Antonio Attanasio from Blackwell Funerals, will be my special guest to light the fire. Antonio is also generously donating an electrical item to the value of $100 for one of our members to win. After the draw for the cash prize, names will continue to be drawn until someone wins the Blackwell Funeral prize. BUT you have to be there to win it so don’t miss out!
Saturday night it was our great pleasure to host WOW FM’s fundraising Bingo night - the hall was full and a fun time was had by all. The Digger’s Rest Bistro was kept busy with many having a meal before “eyes down”. The organisers from WOW FM were very impressed with how the event ran and gave the RSL and our Functions Team a huge plug on the Sunday afternoon radio show. Thank you to everyone who contributed. We are certainly making a good impression on our local community.
On Sunday we held a sausage sizzle at the Maritime Museum for the Defence Community Organisation SA Family Day. Once again it was a cold, wet and pretty miserable day but many still turned up and it was all for a great cause. Thanks to everyone who helped out, especially Andrew who did most of the organising and setting up for the day.
I will be at a reunion this week from Friday until Tuesday at Hervey Bay QLD, if nothing else the weather should be warmer. Thanks for your support and I will see you all the week after next.
Cheers
Colin, President
